Wimbledon Welcomes Tennis Legends with Wildcard Entries
London, June 1st – The historic Wimbledon tournament has unveiled its wildcard selections for the upcoming Grand Slam, set to commence on July 1st. Headlining the list are several renowned Tennis stars, including former British number one Emma Raducanu, who will be making her return to the prestigious event after missing last year’s edition due to injury.
Raducanu, 21, is one of four Grand Slam champions granted a wildcard entry to the women’s singles draw. Joining her are Japan’s Naomi Osaka, Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki, and Germany’s Angelique Kerber, the 2018 Wimbledon titleholder. These wildcards provide opportunities for players who did not directly qualify based on their rankings to compete at the prestigious event.

In addition to the high-profile names, several British players have also been awarded wildcards, including Heather Watson, Fran Jones, and Lily Miyazaki in the women’s singles. On the men’s side, Liam Broady, who has reached the third round in each of the past two Wimbledon tournaments, leads the list of seven British wildcards.
The Wimbledon organizers have recognized the importance of supporting the comeback journeys of several Tennis legends. Osaka, Kerber, and Wozniacki have all returned to the tour in the past year after giving birth, showcasing their resilience and determination to reclaim their rightful place in the sport.
Raducanu, in particular, will be eager to make a strong impression at Wimbledon, as she continues to recover from the wrist and ankle surgeries that sidelined her for much of last year, including the 2022 edition of the tournament.
As the anticipation builds for the prestigious Wimbledon Championship, Tennis enthusiasts eagerly await the return of these iconic players to the hallowed grass courts of the All England Club.
