Strasbourg International: Madison Keys Clinches All-American Final Victory
Madison Keys emerged victorious at the Strasbourg International, securing an impressive 6-1, 6-2 triumph over fellow American Danielle Collins in the all-American final on Saturday. The fourth-seeded Keys showcased her dominance, breaking the third-seeded Collins’ serve six times and maintaining a clean slate throughout the tournament, not dropping a single set. This victory marks Keys’ eighth WTA singles title and her first of the 2023 season.
Keys, who delayed the start of her season until March due to a shoulder issue, has found her stride on the clay courts, reaching the semifinals in Madrid and the quarterfinals in Rome, with only world No. 1 Iga Swiatek besting her on the red clay. Seeded 14th at the upcoming French Open, Keys will face Renata Zarazua of Mexico in her opening match. Meanwhile, Collins, seeded 11th, will take on compatriot Caroline Dolehide in the first round.
“This victory marks Keys’ eighth WTA singles title and her first of the 2023 season.”
