Lily Miyazaki’s Wimbledon Campaign Ends in Lopsided Defeat
Lily Miyazaki’s Wimbledon campaign came to an abrupt end on Wednesday as the British player suffered a lopsided defeat against Russian 14th seed Daria Kasatkina. The match, held at the prestigious grass-court tournament, saw the world number 148 Miyazaki failing to win a single game, with Kasatkina cruising to a comprehensive 6-0 6-0 victory in just 50 minutes.
Kasatkina, fresh off her title triumph at the Eastbourne International over the weekend, showcased her formidable form, overpowering Miyazaki throughout the encounter. The 28-year-old Briton, who had produced the biggest win of her career by defeating Tamara Korpatsch in the first round, was unable to replicate that performance, struggling to keep the ball in play and committing 31 unforced errors across the 53 points won by Kasatkina.
“Kasatkina showcased her formidable form, overpowering Miyazaki throughout the encounter.”
The 27-year-old Russian will now advance to the third round of Wimbledon, where she is set to take on Spaniard Paola Badosa.
