British Sensation Emma Raducanu to Make Grass-Court Return at Nottingham Open
On May 26th, BBC Sport reported that British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu is set to make her return to the grass-court swing at the Nottingham Open in June. The 21-year-old, who stunned the world by winning the 2021 US Open, has decided to skip the upcoming French Open to focus her preparations on the grass-court season, which she missed entirely last year due to wrist and ankle surgeries.
“The Nottingham event, the first WTA Tour competition of the British grass-court swing before Wimbledon kicks off on July 1st, will serve as Raducanu’s launchpad for the prestigious Slam.”
The young Briton has previously competed at the Nottingham Open, reaching the second round in 2021 before retiring due to injury in her 2022 first-round match.
Joining Raducanu in the Nottingham field are several prominent names, including:
- World number nine Ons Jabeur of Tunisia
- 2021 French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic
- 2020 Australian Open winner Sofia Kenin of the United States
Notably, Britain’s Katie Boulter will be looking to defend her Nottingham title, having secured her maiden WTA Tour victory at the event earlier this year.
As Raducanu sets her sights on the grass-court season, Tennis enthusiasts eagerly await her return to form and the chance to witness the young legend in action on the hallowed lawns of Wimbledon.
