Tennis Legend Andy Murray Set for Comeback in Geneva Open
Andy Murray, the three-time Grand Slam champion, is set to make his highly anticipated return to the court at the upcoming Geneva Open later this month. The former world No. 1, who has been sidelined due to an ankle injury sustained at the Miami Open last month, has been granted a wild-card entry into the clay-court event, tournament organizers announced on Wednesday.
Murray, who has undergone hip surgery in 2018, has been selective in his tournament appearances in recent years, but is determined to represent Great Britain once again at the Paris Olympics this summer. The two-time Wimbledon and Olympic champion is a former finalist at the French Open, though he has only competed at the clay-court Grand Slam once since reaching the semifinals in 2017.
“The Geneva Open will provide Murray with the opportunity to test his form and fitness on the red clay as he sets his sights on a potential deep run at Roland Garros.”
The Geneva Open, which serves as a crucial warm-up event for the French Open, will give Murray the chance to assess his readiness for the clay-court season and potentially make a strong showing at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
