French Open: Murray and Evans Kick Off Doubles Campaign
On Friday, the French Open will witness the commencement of the men’s doubles campaign for the British pair, Andy Murray and Dan Evans, weather permitting. The two, who faced early exits in their respective singles matches at Roland Garros, are set to take on Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild and Argentine Sebastian Baez in the fourth and final match on court 13.
Murray, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, is eyeing a final appearance at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris this summer, with the possibility of competing in both the men’s singles and doubles events.
“This dynamic duo has collaborated on the court twice before, most recently at the 2022 Citi Open in Washington, where they defeated the event’s second seeds before falling in the second round.”
Joining Murray and Evans in men’s doubles action on the fifth day of the French Open are fellow Britons Joe Salisbury, Jamie Murray, and Lloyd Glasspool. Salisbury, a four-time major champion paired with American Rajeev Ram, will face Uruguayan Ariel Behar and Czech Adam Pavlasek.
Murray and New Zealand’s Michael Venus, the 13th seeds, are set to meet Spanish pair Pedro Martinez and Jaume Munar, while Glasspool and Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer will take on Argentine eighth seeds Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni.
In the women’s doubles, British compatriots Katie Boulter and Heather Watson will begin their campaign against China’s Chan Hao-ching and Russian Veronika Kudermetova.
