Alexander Zverev Reaches Fourth Consecutive French Open Semi-Final
German fourth seed Alexander Zverev secured his spot in the French Open semi-finals for the fourth year in a row, overcoming Australia’s Alex de Minaur in straight sets. The 27-year-old Zverev defeated 11th seed De Minaur 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in a hard-fought battle on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
Zverev, who has reached the final in Paris in the past three editions but fallen short each time, now has another opportunity to clinch his maiden Grand Slam title. Standing in his way will be Norwegian seventh seed Casper Ruud, who defeated Zverev in last year’s semi-final at the French Open.
“I’m happy to be back in another semi-final, hopefully I can win one this time,” said Zverev following his victory over De Minaur.
Ruud advanced to the last four without playing, after defending champion Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournament due to a knee injury that had troubled the Serbian during his fourth-round win on Monday.
In the other semi-final matchup, Italian second seed Jannik Sinner will face off against Spanish third seed Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated clash.
