Iga Swiatek, the reigning French Open champion, kicked off her bid for a third consecutive title at Roland Garros with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Leolia Jeanjean on Monday. The world No. 1, who has held the top spot for nearly every week since April 2022, showcased her dominance, recording a 26-2 edge in winners and committing only one brief lapse in the match, which lasted just over an hour.
Swiatek’s winning streak now stands at 13 matches, and she has won 15 consecutive matches at the French Open, having clinched the title in 2020 and 2022. The Polish sensation spoke enthusiastically about her comfort on the Parisian clay, saying, “It feels like home here.”

She will face four-time major champion and former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka in the next round.
Elsewhere on the opening day, reigning Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner continued his strong Grand Slam run in 2024, defeating Chris Eubanks 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova and two-time major finalist Ons Jabeur also secured wins.
Looking ahead, the day’s play was set to be headlined by the highly anticipated clash between 14-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal and No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev. Swiatek admitted she would be watching Nadal’s match, acknowledging that the Spanish legend is on a different level compared to her own accomplishments at this stage.
